Alternative Living Solutions

Alternative Living Solutions is an informational book I created while researching the housing market. As I dug into the data, I kept coming back to how dramatically home prices have risen since the 1940s, making ownership feel increasingly out of reach for younger generations.

This led me to explore the growing tiny house movement as an alternative approach to housing. The book looks at both the benefits and the challenges of building and living in a smaller space, aiming to present a balanced, approachable overview of the topic.

All illustrations were created by me in Adobe Illustrator.

Traditional Book

The Tales of Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit was one of my favorite books growing up, though revisiting it later brought a more complicated perspective. For this project, I was tasked with creating a “traditional book.”

I hand-drew all of the illustrations, referencing the style of the original Uncle Remus imagery, and assembled the book using a saddle-stitch binding. The process focused on craftsmanship, materiality, and studying historical illustration techniques.

The Economist

This was a collaborative project with Ivy Petty, where we analyzed the design system behind The Economist.

We broke down key elements of the publication, including its history, brand guidelines, grid structure, and page layouts, to better understand how consistency and hierarchy are maintained across issues.

Barn Dwelling Publication

This project is a publication version of my Barn Dwelling video, created to capture the feeling of a raw, personal journal. It reflects my experience during COVID, using a more image-heavy format to carry the emotion and atmosphere of that time.

The layout pairs written reflections with photographs of place, allowing the visuals to lead while the text adds context and grounding.
